What is Web 3.0 or Web3 or Semantic Web ? Difference between Web 1.0, Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 and their examples.

If someone would ask you What is going to be the future technology in coming years, what will you answer? If the same question will be asked from me, I will say that the future will be of blockchain technology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Augmented reality and Metaverse too. But I cannot forget the term Web 3.0 in it because future of Internet will be Web 3.0. Lets learn about all the aspects of Web 3.0 or Semantic Web with us as the blog proceeds.

We all know that how the blockchain tokens or Cryptocurrencies have disrupted the financial markets of almost all countries and similarly the Web 3.0 is considered to be the disrupter of the Internet market in the future. But if we want to know about Web 3.0  or Web3 or Semantic Web, first of all we need to learn about other previous versions of Web that are, Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. The Web 1.0 is the considerable first version or first generation of Web which consists of static websites. But in case of Web 2.0, there was option for the visitors to interact with the website.

But now the term Web 3.0 which is also called Semantic Web and is getting considered to be the future of the Internet is based on blockchain technology. Web 3.0 will be a medium where the data on the website will not be centralized and can not be used by any identity anymore. If you will find on the Internet about the Web 3.0, you will get confusing and unclear information but after combining our knowledge and some online research, we will share the best info on the Semantic Web with you down the article.

What is Web 3.0 ?
Web 3.0

Need of Web 3.0 :

We all know what was the need of Bitcoin, it was to decentralized the money transfer system i.e, the ordinary financial system controlled by some central bodies. Similarly, the Web 3.0 is decentralized system for the internet. Currently the Web 2.0 platforms like Facebook, Instagram etc take your data and sell it to their advertisers so that they can target you based on your interest and make profits. But in  the current Web 2.0 system you do not have any control over your own data like the ads you want to see, whatever the platform owners want they will show you making you data centralized and controlled.

So the need of Web 3.0 arises, in Web 3.0 the advertisers or the platform owners will not have any access to control your data whereas you will only be the one controlling. You will be able to control the types of ads you want to see and the function you want to perform on the website.

Difference between Web 1.0, Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 ?

Web 1.0 -> It was the first version of the Internet. In the Web 1.0, the interaction was only from one end that means, only the creator or the admin of the website can enter anything on the website, the other users can only see but do not perform or interact on the website.

Web 2.0 -> In the Web 2.0, user can comment, create accounts, create content, participate in surveys etc. Collectively it is not static as Web 1.0 but user can create content and interact on the website too.

Web 3.0 -> It will be running on blockchain and will stop anyone from owning it. Web 3.0 will be for all and no one at central level will have the access to the technology.
